That’s very christian-like cause you douchebags believe you can oppress people with your narrow minds just by numbers.Just because there are a lot of you sheeps out there doesn’t mean that you have the right to pass judgement and try to force your boogeyman onto other people that are simply using their brain

atheists cant get away from the fact that the whole fucking world still believes in this shit after thousands of years. its fucked up. stop teaching your kids about it. no youre not going to heaven, no youre not going to hell, no god didn’t created the whole universe so you can feel good about yourself. the world will end before humanity stop fucking around thinking they own it all.

This nation was founded on universal values with an explicit dictate that ALL religious beliefs be tolerated and ALL people be represented. Please also remember that all the “One Nation Under God” and “In God We Trust” came in hundreds of years later under during a McCarthyist time in America, a time where the most core values were almost destroyed. Some of you should actually read history.

@imrational Where in the Constitution does it say, or imply, America is a democracy?

  8. october312066 says:

@centralnick805 You claim that the U.S. is a Christian nation, how about you (or any reading this) giving support to that position. Can any one give me a value, that is a sole Christian value, that is an American law, that is not discrimative, prejudice, and/or necessary for freedom and justice?

Aside from that, there are theist counrties out there, why don’t you go live it up there, instead of putting up with stupid atheist?

  9. imrational says:

    @centralnick805
lol, “strong do what they will and the weak endure”… is that some kind of warped belief in evolution?

  10. imrational says:

    @landsdown44
laws that violate the Constitution are proposed every year by Christian representatives… usually they just fall thru the cracks, but the fact that they’re proposed means that they still have a faint hope of passing.

  11. centralnick805 says:

atheists are so cute when they argue their points. i like it :)
cmon guys we believe in you! you can do it! stand up for ur beliefs. haha so stupid. how bout u just shut up and sit down cuz we are a christian nation, and some of us arent afraid of saying it. personally, in this world we live in, im one of those ppl that says take it or leave it but this is how it is. you dont like it oh well cuz im bigger and stronger then you. strong do what they will and the weak endure what they must.

  12. ccoodd11 says:

Get rid of the of the music!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. landsdown44 says:

But our laws must not oppose our Constitution which clarify that we are not a Christian/religious nation. Right wing Christians bother me but their views cannot un-write the Constitution nor undermine 200 plus years of secular government.

  14. imrational says:

    landsdown44,
I care if someone wants to believe this is a “Christian Nation”. We live in a democracy where the beliefs of the majority can determine our laws. Also, I am interested in the Truth.

From one philosopher to many others
    I entreat you to hear
As we pass each other on the long journey we can exchange ideas
    I will take yours
    Here are mine
Truth cannot be abandoned, it remains
    Truth cannot be changed
If silver is painted black it is still silver
If gold is painted red white and blue it is still gold
If the truth is obscured from view it is by our deep aspiration to feel important or worthwhile and acceptable
Notice how you feel this way by not loving your maker

  16. sinmantyx says:

I was talking about the addition to the pledge – and basically the whole push by the Knights of Columbus to place religion into government during the 50’s.

  17. landsdown44 says:

The only proof that the U.S. would be a Christian nation would be if the Christian Faith had official recognition as in the Constitution. However, the Constitution makes no such claim. Who the heck cares if someone wants to believe this is a Christian nation. We are a secular nation. As a Christian, I am very glad we are.

The “under God” phrase has no legal thrust. Get over it.

  18. Phsymorph says:

“My theory is that “under God” was included in the pledge basically as part of the propaganda against Communism.”

While this may be partially true, it is not entirely accurate.

    From wikipedia:
“The motto first appeared on a United States coin in 1864 during strong Christian sentiment emerging during the Civil War, but In God We Trust did not become the official U.S. national motto until after the passage of an Act of Congress in 1956.”

  19. sinmantyx says:

    How dare I?
    :P

I have read very little if anything on the subject, and I’m just working on vague chronological correlation and snippets of attitudes I tend to hear in anti-Communist rhetoric.

So, excuse me if I’m not sure which dead or half-dead white guy who wrote a book I’ve never read thought of it first – become obviously I’m just a sounding board for that person.

  20. OpRedDawn says:

although that is probably correct, it’s not YOUR theory

  21. sinmantyx says:

My theory is that “under God” was included in the pledge basically as part of the propaganda against Communism.

The only way to galvanize the populous against Communism (in general) was to intertwine it with “godlessness” – and to intertwine the “American way” with “godliness” to make actions against Communism by the state to appear as a holy war and not a war about economic systems.

  22. OnlyTheWeakNeedHelp says:

I see your point. I like your video. I dont care what religion people take, or if they dont take one at all. I just hate when people complain about unimportant things, i see your point now.

  23. OnlyTheWeakNeedHelp says:

Thanks for the advice, but why would christians not like communists? i dont go to church much so i wouldnt know but i thought they were all for a society where everyone is economically equall. By the way im a republican and conservitive, most of the time. just so u dont think im some asshole communist.

  24. thenamesdoughnut says:

uhm no offense or anything ( i like the “religion is the opiate to the masses” quote. but if you use a quote by karl marx then you might be made out as a communist. which among other things, christians hate.

  25. imrational says:

    OnlyTheWeakNeedHelp,
The pledge did not originally have “Under God”… so why was it important to insert it?

btw, I care that it’s there because I have had numerous Christians point to that and say that it is proof that this is a Christian nation. In other words, it is used as false proof to push/insert religion into the public sphere.
