muslims still use Hammurabi’s code in more isolated areas, forced the sons of christians to be converted and serve in the army in the ottoman empire, and at one point went and cut off thousands of Christians heads. and they’re still trying to wipe jews off the face of the earth. catholics and puritans burned at the stake and tortured even people from their own religion. most religions at some point did “convert or die” but, read further please.
honestly, most religions have extremists and all religions have done some gruesome things. don’t just go hitting on judaism and Christianity because they are the most available. muslims (mentioned in above answers and mine, very strict) and catholics (Inquisition- senseless killing with no renaissance following; like the crusades) have done things just as bad. real christians without the clergy at all have done very little and jews have had to fight to keep their land and culture intact. you should just go and research it. know that most people from a religion are not extremists or want to do those punishments unless it is part of their religion. it really depends on YOUR personal stand point and the circumstance of the events.

I am amazed at those who love to bash Islam
do not they know Jesus came to soften the stringent and unpractical laws of the Bible and if he were to succeed it would have been a version of what Islam is now.
But Jesus did not finish his mission and he said he will go to the father so the father can send another who will tell us everything
well the father did send Mohammad and Mohammad told us practically everything we need to know.

This is why the united nations relied on Islamic Human rights as one main source
Geneva War Prisoners Act also had to use the Islamic way as a main source

I invite any one who bash Islam to make a school research paper to what the church or islam did in history.

I believe without a doubt, to be cast into a burning hell is and will be the worse punishment that anyone will ever endure, and that is only the first death. The second death will be after the judgment bar of God, and to be cast into the lake burning with fire and brimstone. I can’t imagine that at all, but it is going to take place, so let all of us call on Jesus Christ so we will not have to worry about any of this….

Well, there’s only one religion I know of that routinely buries women up to their necks and stones them to death if they’ve committed adultery, married without permission, or otherwise “disgraced” the men of the family. Same religion that wanted a woman put to death for naming a teddy bear “Mohamed” and started world-wide riots over newspaper cartoons.

Same religion as the guy who cut off his wife’s head. Go figure.

Judaism and Christianity has evolved from their “criminal” past to become more civilized religions as they deposed their strict stone age rules and punishments. BUT, Islam is still rulling it’s believers with the exact same rules and punishments as when it was founded in the year 610 AFTER Jesus. For instance:

Surah 24:2…Strike the adulteress and the adulterer one hundred times. Do not let compassion for them keep you from carrying out God’s law—if you believe in God and the Last Day—and ensure that a group of believers witnesses the punishment.

Surah 4:34…Husbands should take full care of their wives, with [the bounties] God has given to some more than others and with what they spend out of their own money. Righteous wives are devout and guard what God would have them guard in the husbands’ absence. If you fear high-handedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great. (Haleem)

Surah 5:38…Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done—a deterrent from God: God is almighty and wise. 39 But if anyone repents after his wrongdoing and makes amends, God will accept his repentance: God is most forgiving and merciful. (Haleem)

Surah 9:5…”Kill the Mushrikun (unbelievers) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush…”

Surah 47:4…“Therefore, when you meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah’s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.”

Surah 9:29… “Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture (Christians & Jews) as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.”

Those punishments are indeed sick but only in today’s context. Two thousand years ago, when the bible was written, they were as normal as today’s parking tickets.

The Aztecs were pretty nasty, even if you did nothing wrong!

For one of their ceremonies, they’d kill people, chop them into bits, and throw the bits off the top of a large tower to splat onto a stone statue below.
