The religious hijackers have claimed everything from the basic staples of life, the humble tea leaf, nourishing bread and cheering wine, right through to the innocent pig and the wriggling shrimp. Claim back food for humanity. Grab back your individual human freedom to eat what you want, to drink what you want. If not, you will perpetuate the unsupportable lie that your particular bunch of religious believers amongst a whole world of diverse and mutually contradictory believers possesses the one and only route to human meaning. Fight the mental chains with which the religious clerics have shackled your mind and spirit. It’s time for religion to swallow the bitter pill of ignominy rather than ramming its pathetic and wicked dogmas down the throats of otherwise noble and dignified human beings.

In this series of short videos entitled Religion is the Great Hijacker, I am hoping to challenge you to think about human experience in a slightly different way from normal. I’m doing this for three reasons: 1. I’ve come to the conclusion that on the one hand, religious experiences are far less religious than atheists normally argue and, on the other, that non-religious experiences are far more religious than religious people want to accept. 2. I’ve noticed an inaccurate and inconsistent polarisation of atheism and religion. This is largely because of an erroneous equation of scientific method with atheist thought. The latter equation is at best spurious and at worst actually self-defeating for the very cause of good old common sense for which atheists believe they are working. 3. I have become sickened by the fact that religion has hijacked everything of value in humanity. It’s done this throughout time; it continues to do so to the present day and, unless we stop it in its tracks, it will continue to adapt itself over the following centuries so that its clerics can maintain their positions of privilege and control over the more vulnerable members of our species.
