Some thought he was the greatest comedian that had ever lived. Although raised in the Roman Catholic faith (which he describes anecdotally on the albums FM & AM and Class Clown), Carlin often denounced the idea of God in interviews and performances, notably with his "Religion" and "There Is No God" routines as heard in You Are All Diseased. Carlin also joked in his first book Brain Droppings that he worshiped the Sun, one reason being that he could actually see it. This was earlier mentioned in You Are All Diseased, along with the statement that he prayed to Joe Pesci (a good friend of his in real life) because "he's a good actor", and "looks like a guy who can get things done!" In his HBO special Complaints and Grievances, Carlin introduced the "Two Commandments", a revised "pocket-sized" list of the Ten Commandments ending with the additional commandment of "Thou shalt keep thy religion to thyself." Jesus is a safer place to put your trust then George Carlin, cause if he’s wrong about God then the punishment is far greater and much more painfull. But if your wrong about God its not gonna matter to a dead person nothing gained or lost.

Abusive parents were almost certainly abused themselves. They are the victims of poverty, ignorance, fear. In that realization, there is a thread of understanding that can lead to resolution, peace, and even a kind of sympathetic love. As for me being full of it: as it relates to this argument, that verdict will depend on whether you prove to be worthwhile in terms of the thought and time I give to this discussion. Parents are a major building block of the personality. 50 year olds running off to shrinks to lament what mummy and daddy did to them are stunted. It is psychologically vital for every person to think of their parents with love and “put them away” emotionally by the time they are 21. In this way they love that part of themselves that rest with their parents. Only in this way can they get on with a life built on solid foundations. So, yes! I think “honour thy father and mother” is a rule of life.
peguho – you’re just guessing too! It is not TRUE to say that the existence of God is “not even slightly proven”. Millions have left testimony of personal experience that constitute evidence that you choose to discount and will continue to do so until you have an experience. Hume says that personal experience is evidence of the 1 order; experiences of others told to you is of the 2 order and experiences recounted by a third party of the 3 order. More than slight proof exists!
If there is no God, can anybody take the place of God and make himself immortal. In contrast to the idea of George Carlin. He said “if there is God, strike me down to death” Can George Carlin do anything for himself now? If there is no God, he can take the place of God and he can make himself alive. This is kind of idea is appeared not only but from the beginning of the world. If anybody compares himself with God, he will fall. With his finite brain George Carlin denied God who is infinite.He thought that God is like a human person. He thought that he knew everything but he even didn’t know about himself and he didn’t know what he is teaching. If our life is without suffering, we will be worse and worse. The world will end very soon if there is no suffering because the people will be very selfish and greedy and they will fight each other. They will not take care of the nature. Disease are happening because of human beings not because of God.He give us guide line and help us but the people deny Him. He give us freedom, so anybody can deny Him. But think about the fact that if I deny Him, can I take His place? How pitiful are they who do not believe in God?
If somebody denies the existence of God, he is denying existence of himself. Try to know about yourselves first. Don’t try to know about God completely because He is not you.
